The issue of reconstruction work of JN Type is heating up once again. A morcha by JN Type apartment owners under the helm of NCP youth leader Kishore Patkar was taken to Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s janta darbar. There seems to be a in fight going on between local leaders for taking charge of JN Type reconstruction work underway at Vashi. There are also reports of clashes between the various groups led by different corporators in the area. To bring the matter to the attention of Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, a protest rally of JN Type apartment owners led by NCP youth leader Kishore Patkar was taken to janta darbar. At the darbar, the residents informed Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik that Congress corporators Prakash Mate and Avinash Lad were allegedly sending their hired goons to threaten the residents of assigning the reconstruction work to them. The rally saw strong participation of local women as well. They requested Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik to pay a visit to their area that will give him a first hand report of their problems. Guardian Minister assured the JN Type apartment owners that he would instruct the police to look into the complaints of the residents. Commissioner of Police Ramrao Wagh was present during the darbar when the matter was taken up. Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik on the other hand said that the tower culture that was started to bring relief to residents living in dilapidated JN Type buildings and that it is sad that such fight for profits are being reported. Sources allege that two factions of the NCP party have come at logger heads to rake in profits of erecting towers by demolition of JN Type buildings. Even Shiv Sena MP Prakash Paranjpe seems to have woken up to the calls of his duty for Navi Mumbai and taken up the long pending issue of FSI and reconstruction of JN Type. Though his demand might be the solution to the fights between local leaders as he says that CIDCO and not private developers should take up the reconstruction work. We bring to you a report. Shiv Sena MP Prakash Paranjpe says that he is going to fight for the residents of JN Type demanding that CIDCO take up the re-construction work of these dilapidated buildings. The MP says that today private developers have gone on a spree of reconstructing CIDCO’s JN Type buildings and are raking in all the profits that can actually go to the state coffers. He says that two floor JN Type buildings are being converted into towers and the additional flats are being sold for Crores of Rupees. To demand that CIDCO be the one profiting from this, a delegation headed by MP Prakash Paranjpe will meet CIDCO Chairman Nakul Patil. Prakash Paranjpe said that if CIDCO does not take their demands seriously, they will take out a mass protest and assured that not only will CIDCO have to take up the reconstruction work but do qualitative work as well. esidents of JN Type are tired of assurances and promises by leaders. Now they want action from these leaders not mere words, voiced a few residents.
