Adding more to the diverse culture in the city, a Kairali Handicarft Showroom was inaugurated at Kerala House in Vashi. The inauguration was done at the hands of Kerela Industries Minister Elemaram Kareem. During 1925, the Divan of Travancore Bahadhur T Raghaviah for and on behalf Her Highness the Maha Rani Regent of Travancore allotted free cost about one acre land to Sree Moolam Shashtiabdapurti Memorial Institute Thiruvananthapuram for establishing an institute for Exhibition – cum -sales of Handicrafts, which is the central handicrafts emporium of the corporation. All over India there are 18 showrooms which showcase the handicrafts made by the skilled artisans. The Kairali Handicraft Showroom at Vashi is the 19th in the line. The renovation and modernisation of this prestigious showroom will be done with the financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1.5 crores sanctioned to the Corporation by the Government of Kerala.
