KONKAN REGION WINS STATE’S TANTA MUKT DRIVE

ngo-2The Konkan Division has won the first prize of the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Tanta Mukta or the dispute-free villages campaign. NMTV News caught up with the Inspector General of Police of the Konkan Division on this achievement. The state’s “Tanta Mukt” campaign is a drive where in the state attends to disputes in villages outside court. This scheme has been praised by judiciary as a beneficial scheme. The disputes ranging from long pending land disputes to petty quarrels in villages are settled at the Samiti level in this drive. The matters, which are in courts are settled with permission from the respected courts of law. The Konkan Division has won the first prize of the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Tanta Mukta or the dispute-free villages campaign. NMTV News caught up with the Inspector General of Police of the Konkan Division on this achievement. The IGP first shared with us what the drive is all about. He said that the award for 2007-08 and 2008-09 is in recognition for solving major cases in rural areas in Konkan Region under the drive.
