The rationing office situated at Kurla is in a deplorable state today. With cracked walls and peeling paint the structure looks like it would collapse any day causing a major accident. What you see right now is not the visuals of a slum dwelling but the picture of Kurla’s rationing office. The office has not seen repair work for so many years that today the walls are cracked and the paint peeling. Dozens of workers and people come to this rationing office for their work and its deplorable condition is so dangerous that it can endanger their lives. It was 60 years back that this structure was developed but no initiative was taken by MHADA to repair or renovate it. Also the office is situated near drainage and matters during monsoons become worse with the water seeping into the office destroying paperwork. We spoke with the officer at the rationing office, R.N. Hakke, who too stated his worries. With cameraperson Abhishek Gaikwad, Ajaz Khan for NMTV News.
