LIONS YOUTH COUNCIL CELEBRATES DIWALI WITH ADIVASIS AT KHARGHAR

lions-club-kharghar-2For the backward sections of society, where survival is a challenge – festivals hold little meaning. However if the NGOs and social bodies are thoughtful, atleast some sections of the poor can have a Happy Diwali and Eid, finds out our Correspondent Milind Tambe. Hadopada at Kharghar is one of the adivasis areas of this modern node. There are 70-80 tribal persons living in hutments here. 13 years ago the Lions Club Youth Council had adopted this village. The club is trying to provide the area with water, electricity, roads and other necessities. Apart from this, every year on Diwali, the members of the clubs celebrate Diwali with the adivasis here. The faraal of Diwali is made by the members and brought and shared with the adivasis here. The members spend an entire day with the adivasis playing and enjoying Diwali, which makes festival time a very joyful experience for the poor here. Navi Mumbai News shared a few words with two members of the club here.
