With the imports of apples touching bottom, there has been a significant price hike in the sale of apples. While a month back a kg used to cost Rs 50-60, it had seen an increase of Rs 20 per kg now. The APMC receives apples from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. With the production of apples quite less in these states, there has been a significant rise in the prices of apples. While a month back a kg of apples used to cause Rs 50-60, at present the prices have shot up to Rs 70-80. Traders at APMC say that the production of apples have been affected due to climate change and other factors. Traders say that there has been a huge difference in the number of productions of apples last year as compred to this year.
