Following the footsteps of the Modi government, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday inducted a total of 11 ministers, six of Cabinet rank and five of junior minister rank.
The expansion left Shiv Sena unhappy as it was denied a Cabinet berth. However, two Sena legislators were inducted as ministers of state. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was conspicuous by his absence at the swearing-in ceremony held at Vidhan Bhawan.
Minister of state, home, Ram Shinde has been promoted to cabinet rank and likely to get portfolio of agriculture. The new Cabinet ministers are BJP’s Sambhaji Patil-Nilangekar, Subhash Deshmukh, Pandurang Fundkar, Ram Shinde, Jaykumar Rawal and RSP’s Mahadev Jankar. The junior ministers are Sena’s Arjun Khotkar and Gulabrao Patil, BJP’s Ravindra Chavan, Madan Yerawar and SSS’ Sadashiv Khot.
