gadkari-1State Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari presented a compilation of alleged scams, collectively amounting to Rs34,000 crore, during the 10-year tenure of the Democratic Front (DF) government. The BJP State President was addressing the media during a press conference held in Mumbai. Speaking during a press conference at the BJP office, State Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari alleged that the government has achieved nothing more than corruption in its tenure. He said that atleast 30 scams have came to light in the DF government’s tenure and that the government is responsible for a debt of Rs1,87,000 crore which included wind energy scam, stamp paper scam, tax evasion scam, Videocon plot scam, Worli- sealink scam and many others. He sarcastically stated that if anyone announces an award for corruption, Maharashtra will certainly get it. Gadkari described the alleged scams as an act of “Alibaba and his 40 thieves”. When asked who this Alibaba was, he merely said, “Sau chuhe khake billi gayi Delhi”, in a reference to Vilasrao Deshmukh, who was the chief minister for seven years. He is now the union minister for heavy industries. With cameraperson Ranjeet Gupta, Dheerej Mishra for NMTV News.
