The state government has launched a one-window system to facilitate setting up industry in Maharashtra. The launch comes a day before PM Modi inaugurates the Make in India week.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, during a recent high-level meeting, directed top bureaucrats to soon put in place such systems. “Online permissions should be issued within a week. If a few departments fail to issue permissions within one week, such permissions should be considered granted,” the CM is learnt to have told the officials. Now, Maharashtra aims at creating a single-window clearance system for permissions from various departments.
On December 20, 2014, when Modi reviewed the system of granting permissions for setting up new industries, he found red-tape and prolonged delays. Even the World Bank too had made critical observations and had recommended drastic changes in the decision-making process for ease of doing business.
