While the entire state is well aware of American National Ken Haywood name and his infamous escape from the country which was quite an embarrassment for the ATS, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil gets defensive of his ATS and spy department on the subject. Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil may be kwown as a comparatively honest politician but today his situation is like that of the PM Manmohan Singh both of whom while loyal are yet very vulnerable. Ken Haywood’s escape from the country which was an embarrassment for the ATS and had stunned every individual of the country, seems to be a paltry issue for the Deputy Chief Minister. When he was questioned about Ken Haywood’s escape and lack of co-ordination between ATS and Central intelligence team, his answer was completely defensive. When Ken Haywood’s case was compared with the Indian National Vikram Subbarao, who has been imprisoned in US for the last two years for a similar crime, RR Patil said that he had no idea who was imprisoned where. When reporters questioned him about bringing Ken back to India, he was again not so keen on this issue. While US has taken a harsh step by imprisoning an Indian National Vikram for a similar crime where Vikram’s email id was also hacked and a threatening email was sent to President of America George Bush. It is depressing to know that while US authorities have did not take this as a trivial issue, Ken Haywood’s escape is being considered absolutely normal. An inside source in ATS however informed that Ken is suspected to have connections with the American Intelligence bureau which aided his escape but to the Indian Government Ken Haywood’s escape is not a surprising matter.
