apmc1A new scam has been unearthed at the APMC with MLA Shashikant Shinde making some serious allegations about the managing committee members of the APMC committee making a fraud organization to buy CIDCO homes built for Mathadis. The 1500 houses allotted for the Mathadis by CIDCO also seems to be getting slimed with corruption of the bureaucracy. It maybe recalled that in the year 1994, CIDCO had built 3000 houses in Ghansoli and Koperkhairane for the Mathadis of the vegetable and fruit market in APMC. For the same the Mathadi Transport and the Mathadis of the General Workers Union, the authorized union of APMC was given the rights to get the names of Mathadis and get the allotment of homes from CIDCO at concessional rates. However, nearly 1500 homes had no takers for a long time. MLA Shashikant Shinde alleges that taking advantage of this fact and knowing the worth of the property at Ghansoli in recent times, one Balasaheb Barade allegedly in nexus with members of APMC managing committee made a new union known as Fruit and Vegetables Welfare Association and registered non-Mathadis under it. MLA Shashikant Shinde also alleges that Balasaheb Barade did this in nexus with members of the APMC Managing Committee. The duo issued fake Mathadi identity cards to non-Mathadis and got the allotment from CIDCO. Shinde further alleged that the 1500 houses are allotted to applicants who are teachers, police officers and bus conductors who are not at all included in the APMC market. Government rule states that the house is exclusively for the Mathadis of APMC. When the scam came to light, a case was registered at the APMC Police Station. The investigating officer of the case gave an insight to NMTV News and said that they found out that Barade had issued fake identity cards and hence he was arrested. Even though the police refused to delve into the controversial angles of the case, reliable sources reveal that on finding out about his impending arrest, Babasaheb Varade allegedly got himself admitted in the hospital. He was allegedly trying to fool the police that he was unwell but we have exclusive visuals of Babasaheb Varade in the hospital talking on the phone, eating hotel food and not looking one percent ill. The police that was present during this drama must have seen the same and arrest Babasaheb Varade. Even though the further investigations are underway, it is a shame for the APMC Managing Committee who are entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the interests and welfare of the Mathadis, are instead playing with the rights of the poor workers for their own vested interests.
