mango-story2The much-awaited arrival of king of fruits is expected to be delayed this year. Many fruit traders at APMC market say that mangoes are expected to be delayed by a month following unseasonal rains that lashed the major mango producing centres. The mango crop this year is expected to be delayed by a month mainly because unseasonal rains that occurred in mango producing regions. According to the traders the flowering starts in the month of November but this year the rains have damaged the crop and hence flowering will start only in the next few days. Most of the traders believe that it all depends upon the nature. Some traders also explained that late arrival of winter season has delayed the flowering of the crop but still considering the present climate, the first set of mangoes might come into the city by February. The mangoes are mainly brought from Konkan like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnatak and Kerala. With cameraperson Kala Jadhav Vrushali Chitre for NMTV news.
