Marathi Cinema Comes Of Age ! Chief Minister Honors Prominent Marathi Actors

The 58th Marathi Film Festival Award Ceremony held at Sahyadri Guest House was a glamorous event to celebrate the progress that the Marathi cinema has made in recent times. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar gave away the awards and appreciated the work being done in the Marathi film industry.

The award distribution ceremony of the 58th Marathi Film Festival held at Sahyadri Guest House was a simple but glamorous affair. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar arrived at the venue to honor the awardees. The event saw the presence of some of the most noted actors, directors and producers of Marathi cinema of the likes of Aishwarya Narkar, Anant Mahadevan, Vikram Gokhale, Suresh Vadkar, Amol Palekar, Nina Kulkarni, Smita Talwalkar and others.

Marathi films have undergone a vast change in the last few years. From experimenting with various genres to shooting at scenic locations, directors have taken to adopting the latest in the markets. Today, every director is trying his best to match Marathi cinema’s technical finesse with that of Bollywood. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan was full of praises for the work being done my Marathi artists. Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar too applauded the progress Marathi films are making.

Bringing on record how politicians are not their real self in public, Dy. Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that politicians too had to be actors and put up an act often in public. On a lighter note, the Dy. Chief Minister questioned Ramdas Phutane – a popular Marathi producer and director as to why he always projected politicians like villains in his films?
