salary-anjani-1And it’s not just the Nature Awareness Centre that was put on hold but in another proposal, the general body displayed ignorant and irresponsible conduct, when the Mayor Anjani Bhoir did not take up the proposal of paying interim pay-hike advance as per recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission to NMMC employees. Neither did the mayor realize what she was doing, nor did the most experienced and senior leader of the House Jaywant Sutar point out the gravity of the denial, which is illegal. The 6th Pay Commission recommendations will be applicable to all those in government service as on 1st April 2008 and 1st October 2008. Hence all employees will be eligible to the pay-hike. Hence the state government has notified to pay Rs. 10000 or twice the basic pay, whichever is higher, as interim advance to all the employees along with the October salaries. NMMC Commissioner Vijay Nahata accordingly put up the proposal for the NMMC general body approval. Not realizing that the general body had no rhyme or reason to deny what the state government had notified to pay the employees, the mayor displayed unwanted muscle, to deny the employees their due. The interim advance is the right of the employees and the elected corporators had no right to deny the same. Yet they did. A section of NMMC employees expressed that the corporators will realize the slip and is likely to approve it at the adjourned meeting on Friday this week though the mayor had no reason to put it aside.
