On the other hand, the MCGM has also started a drive in every ward of Mumbai to address the water woes of Mumbaikars. Our MCGM Correspondent Hansraj Kanojia reports that the MCGM has started a special drive this week where DMC will meet the corporator of each ward to make an attempt of increasing the pressure of water in Mumbai homes. Consumers of the 24 wards of MCGM have been complaining of poor pressure of water. It is to address this water woe of Mumbaikars that the MCGM has started a drive in, which DMCs of each ward will meet the corporators in a joint meeting to discuss the various reasons leading to poor pressure in water supply. In weekly press conference of the MCGM, the civic body’s Addtl. Commissioner Anil Diggekar informed that they will discuss issues like leakage and thefts and how to take strict action against those stealing or misusing water. The officer also informed that earlier MCGM Water Supply Dept. use to release water to 10 wards at a time. But now retired senior officials of MCGM have advised the civic body to supply 1.5 hours of water supply to one ward at a time that will ensure that atleast for a shorter period but Mumbaikars get water supply with full pressure. While the MCGM is trying to get the best brains to work with them on the prevailing water crisis in Mumbai, the failure of MCGM to ensure regular water supply to Mumbai despite being the richest corporation of the country is a shame.
