MCGM Commissioner Dr. Jairaj Pathak seemed to have provided the media incorrect information on the subject of the identification papers that it requires residents to show at its hospitals before availing municipal medical services. Speaking at a recent press conference, MCGM Commissioner Dr. Jairaj Pathak informed the media that as was discussed in the ward heads meet, it was made mandatory in its civic hospitals to ask for identification certificates. He also stated that the Congress, NCP and Samjwadi party had initially opposed this proposal in the meet but only after receiving the majority was the proposal approved. And if we believe what NCP leader Niyaz Ahmed Banu has to say then any proposal opposed by any of the ward committee member then it cannot be approved at all. But violating this rule or being unaware of it, MCGM Commissioner immediately called for a press conference and declared that the proposal of having identification at civic hospitals was approved on the basis of majorty. According to Niyaz Ahmed, Dr. Jairaj Pathak was the only one who was hell-bent in introducing this procedure. When the same was asked to Dr. Jairaj Pathak he was seen defending himself. With the MCGM Commissioner Dr. Jairaj Pathak being so stubborn on making identification papers mandatory, looks like there is more to it than what meets the eye.
