MCGM has developed a garden at Andheri, dedicating it to the martyred encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar who lost his life during the Mumbai terror attack. The Mumbai terror attack of 26/11 is something that is edged in the minds of the citizens of Mumbai when hundreds of innocent lives were lost. Also killed in the attack were many senior officials of the police department which included encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar. Two months after this attack, while the martyrs were awarded with the Ashok Chakra award on the other hand, MCGM paid tribute to Vijay Salaskar by developing and naming a garden in Andheri after him called Shaheed Vijay Salaskar garden. The inauguration of the public garden which is located on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road was done at the hands of Senior Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi. Also present during the inauguration was MCGM Commissioner Dr. Jairaj Pathak, Additional Commissioner Kishore Gajbhiye and the family members of Vijay Salaskar. Speaking to the media, brave heart Vijay Salaskar’s wife Smita Salaskar said that she took pride in her husband.
