The MCGM has sanctioned an additional Rs. 20 Crores to fill the over 9600 potholes in Mumbai city. With this its overall budget for the work has increased to Rs. 60 Crores. The MCGM has sanctioned an additional Rs. 20 Crore to fill 593 potholes in the city. The civic body had spent nearly Rs. 40 crore for the same purpose before the rains started. Out of the 9,630 potholes, the MCGM’s road department had filled 9,037. Now, only 593 remain. This year, the MCGM had appointed 23 private contractors to attend to potholes and bad patches in the city. Last month, the civic body had identified 2,397 potholes, of which, it claimed that 2,112 had already been attended to. The MCGM has three jet patcher machines, which can cover 60sq m area in a day. Along with this, the MCGM has sanctioned an additional Rs. 20 crore for filling of the potholes.
