On the lines of Swine Flu campaign, the MCGM has started a drive for malaria tests in Mumbai to check the increasing number of malaria deaths in Mumbai. The drive was started with the pulse polio drive this week. Realizing that the number of malaria deaths in Mumbai has seen a steep rise, the MCGM has decided to begin an aggressive campaign for detecting malaria cases on the lines of its swine flu campaign. MCGM Addtl. Commissioner Manisha Patankar informed that this year, 73% malaria patients who came to MCGM hospitals died as they had come in for treatment in the last stage. Manisha Patankar informed that just like MCGM Health Dept. officials give door-to-door service for pulse polio, on the same lines they will now begin a malaria detection drive. For this the health dept. officials have undergone training as well. With cameraperson Raju Sharma, Hansraj Kanojia for NMTV News.
