Trying all it can to reduce the severity of water shortage in the city, MCGM is reviving its plans of rainwater harvesting. It has allotted funds of Rs 50 lakhs to each ward for the implementation of this system. Seeing the increasing shortage of water in the city, MCGM has decided to bring 5365 wells and 6988 bore wells into use. In a recently held press conference, MCGM additional commissioner Anil Diggikar gave more information on this. He stated that the existing wells and borewells will be repaired and the water will be used for various purposes. For this purpose, each ward of MCGM will be allotted rupees 50 lakh. MCGM has also completed the work of installing tanks for water accumulation on 43 MCGM buildings. MCGM is also planning totake in suggestions by Naval officers to save water.
