MCGM TO REPLACE ALL WATER METERS AT THE COST OF RS 800 CRORE

water-meater-3MCGM has decided to replace the entire three lakhs 11000 water meters in the city. And the corporation would be spending a whopping Rs 800 crore in this project. MCGM Standing Committee has recently approved a proposal of replacing around three lakhs 11000 water meters of the city with automatic water meter reading system water meters. MCGM is going to spend a whopping Rs 800 crores on this project. The project would be completed in two phases. The first phase which would be the pilot phase would initially have the installment of around 10000 meters. Deputy Commissioner of MCGM’s Engineering Department, Pramod Charankar informed that under this project 80% meters would be of 15 and 20 mm and around with a cost of Rs 11250 to Rs 13000. According to Deputy Engineer of the Water Supply department, Yuvraj Rathod, the current water meters showed a huge variance between water consumption and the revenue received.
