In an effort to provide alternate source of water to Mumbaikars, MCGM has decided to promote Rainwater Harvesting in 240 areas of the city. MCGM has decided to begin Rainwater Harvesting this year in 240 areas of 24 wards. The plan will be carried out in MCGM Schools, Hospitals, Wards and MCGM owned lands that are available in 24 Suburban and 25 Eastern Suburban areas of 49 cities around Mumbai. Apart from which MCGM will do Rainwater Harvesting in 10 areas of each 24 wards. To convert this plan into action, the government has allotted rupees 67 Crore. MCGM Additional Commissioner Anil Dhigekar said that they have been on a look out for ward officers to carry out Rainwater Harvesting in 10 different areas of each ward.
