The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai will set up a wax museum, on the lines of London’s Madame Tussauds, at a plot near Birla Kreeda Kendra at Girgaum Chowpatty. Sources informed that the construction of the museum will begin within six months and the civic body has sought the help of the management of Madame Tussauds. MCGM owns a 50,000 sq ft plot at Chowpatty, but will need Centre’s permission since the land falls under coastal regulatory zone. The proposed museum will a cultural gallery, an art gallery, an auditorium and a cafeteria. It will have statues of great personalities such as Shivaji Maharaj and others.
