The corporators in the Standing Committee meeting of MCGM came down heavily on the contractors who have done shoddy work in civic run schools in the city. The corporators said they had visited around 36 civic schools here and found that eight contractors, who were appointed to carry out the repair work there have done a “shoddy job.” MCGM Standing Committee Chairman Ravindra Waikar informed that as per the Court order and the Dhanuba Committee appointed by MCGM, they had suggested that all civic school repairs should be done systematically keeping the quality check in mind. Corporators in the civic body asked for transparency in the administration and said they do not want corrupt people. They demanded blacklisting these contractors. Corporators also alleged that the contractors had deliberately delayed the repair work because more delays mean more money from the civic body’s side. Chairman of Education Committee Dr Ram Barot informed that out of 179 schools, only 33 schools have been repaired so far and new proposals of repairs have been requested for 7 schools. Barot has demanded that strict action black listing the contractors. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Hansraj Kanaujia for NMTV news.
