The weekly press conference of MCGM Commissioner Swadhin Kshatriya was held in the civic headquarters in South Mumbai. Our MCGM Correspondent Hansraj Kanojia reports on the main issues addressed by the civic chief. MCGM has decided to take strict action against the distributors as well as the buyers of plastics below 50 microns. The step has been taken to free the city nullahs from abandoned polythene bags which ultimately choke up nullahs. The main cause of concern for 26/7 deluge in 2005 was the choking up of nullahs due to discarded polythene bags in city gutters. At that time, the state has banned the usage of 50 microns polythene bags. This was exposed by the Ranganathan Mishra Committee report which informed the ill-effects of polythene bags below 50 microns. The MCGM Commissioner said that action would be taken against those selling or even purchasing polythene bags below 50 microns. With cameraperson Vivek Gaikwad, Hansraj Kanaujia for NMTV News.
