bridges-1After the widening of the Mithi River and initiating the Brimstowad project, MCGM has now decided to redevelop and widen six bridges of the city at an estimated cost of 180 crores. Keeping in mind the situation of water logging in the city, M A Chitle, the president of Facts Finding Committee’s report had were on stressed on the widening of the drains of Mithi river it has also stressed on the need to widen the bridges coming over the Mithi river and its drains. Following this report, MCGM has decided to redevelop and widen the Kurla Kalina bridge, Krantinagar bridge, Ashoknagar bridge, Bamandyapada bridge, pipeline service road bridge and Filterpada bridge. MCGM would be sending a total of Rs 180 crores for the project. The 26/7 deluge has most affected the MCGM’s treasury as after the flood calamity it has spent crores on making sure that the episode does not repeat again, but unfortunately even today rainfall more than 100 milimeter can create water logging situation in the city. At such a point one wonders if the funds from the MCGM treasury has actually gone for the project or has filled coffers of a few others. With cameraperson Ravu Nikam, Rajeev Mishra for NMTV News.
