MCGM’S DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ASKS ADMINISTRATION TO RE-SUBMIT MARKET REDEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL WITH TRANSPARENCY

mcgm-1The MCGM administration had sent the proposal to develop 18 markets in Mumbai under the “Mumbai Market Redevelopment” proposal to the corporation’s development Committee, but after a long debate, the committee sent it back demanding that the administration make the proposal more transparent. The redevelopment of the markets in Mumbai is one of the most ambitious projects that the MCGM has planned to undertake. For the 92 markets in Mumbai, the MCGM drafted a proposal for redeveloping 18 markets in the 1st phase. For this a proposal was kept for approval of the Development Committee of MCGM. After hours of debates and discussions, the Development Committee members returned the proposal to the administration asking them to bring it again with all the details demanded by members so that the proposal is completely transparent. Chairman of the Development Committee Manoj Kotak spoke to us after the meeting. He added that while there are 92 markets in MCGM’s jurisdiction, their first proposal comprises of redeveloping 18 markets in a public private scheme.
