In a bid to bring about greater transparency in the utilization of funds allotted for urban development projects, the civic body will video-tape its under construction buildings and post it on its portal. Agencies will soon be appointed for the video-shoots. The MCGM took this decision following a state government directive issued to the seven municipal corporations and 15 smaller municipal councils in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, ordering them to take video clips of projects under the Centre-funded JNNURM and post them on their website. Of the total sanctioned projects, worth Rs 37,000 crore for Maharashtra, Mumbai alone has won works worth Rs 13,000 crore. However, time and again, doubts have been raised on the delay in the release of funds by the Centre and its subsequent effect on deadlines. Hence, the civic body will video-tape it’s under construction buildings and post it on its website portal. Agencies will soon be appointed for the video-shoots. Bureau report – NMTV News.
