Given the ever growing population in the twin city, MLC Manda Mhatre met with Food and Civic Supply Minister Sunil Tatkare to decentralize the rationing department by opening two rationing offices each at Airoli and CBD. There are around 90 rationing shops in Navi Mumbai but there is only one rationing office in the city. To look into the issue faced by the people due to just one rationing office, MLC Manda Mhatre met with Food and Civic Supply Minister Sunil Tatkare to open up two more rationing offices in CBD and Airoli. The proposal was also given support by the Sunil Tatkare. MLC Manda Mhatre stated that the sub-rationing office in Vashi would be given the status of a rationing office and that the commission given to rationing offices would also be increased. The initiatives taken by MLC Manda Mhatre is commendable as rationing system is the life-line of the under-privileged that live in slums and chawls as they get the necessary commodities like dal, rice, sigar at subsidized rates.
