Thomas Reddy, a Koparkhairane resident, is such a person. History being his passion, today he has an exemplary collection of Indian History. History is a subject which teaches us about the past. Koperkairane resident Thomas Reddy has preserved the Indian history to give a new wisp of life to the glorious characters of the past. He has been earnestly collecting pictures of historical figures from Indian History since 1989. It was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s lifestyle that inspired Reddy to collect about 3,000 photographs of the first prime minister of the country. Following his first exhibition at Dadar in 1992, Reddy began collecting pictures that spoke of freedom struggle. Today he is a proud claimant of photos of each changing face of Indian freedom struggle. Some of the photos that catches your eye are the peace loving phase of the Gandhian era, massacre at Jallianwala Baugh, photographs of Queen Victoria, and of Sonia Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi. The passion is a costly affair for this History teacher at a municipal school, as procuring photos is not an easy task. With eight exhibitions to his credit, Reddy now aspires to make compilation of his books along with a summarized description of the photos.
