A group of students in Thane represented the sate in Karate National Championship 2010-11 held at Hyderabad earlier this month. Bringing laurels to the city and the state, the team bagged 40 medals in Nationals and is now preparing for the International Championship to be held at Dubai. We met one of the members of this team, Siddesh Sinalkar to know more on their achievement. In the recently held XIIth Karate Budokan Federation of India’s National Karate Championship 2010-11 at Hydrabad, a team of 34 students of Thane district represented Maharashtra state. These students emerged as winners winning 18 Gold medals, 10 Silver and 12 Bronze. The students participated in the under 14 category and performed some hard-hitting Karate styles of Kata; Kumite and Stick Weapon. We met with Siddesh Sinalkar, one of the participants of the Karate team who expressed his joy over winning this competition. Siddesh along with the other participants shared the support and training that they received from their coach which made them to excel. Siddesh’s father also expressed his happiness over his son’s and the team’s exceptional victory.
