Minister of state for home Ranjeet Patil visits burns centre in Airoli

Airoli: The National Burns Centre in Airoli, where two Mumbai fire brigade personnel — Sunil Nesrikar and Sudhir Amin — have been admitted in critical condition,minister of state for home Ranjeet Patil came to visit the officials . The Airoli centre is among the few centres in the country which specialises in treatment for burns and has its own skin bank. Sources said, “This is among the specialised burns centre in the country and cases of severe burns are referred here. It has it own skin bank and advanced equipment to treat the severely burnt patients.”

Minister Patil said, “We have directed the hospital management to take every possible care and provide all the necessary treatment to the two fire officers. The best possible treatment is being given to the officers.” He added, “Things are being worked out to carry out the audit of the fire personnel who are on duty and to provide them the best safety gear.” As far as the fire safety in old buildings of Mumbai and narrow alleys, which are blocked due to parking of vehicles is concerned, Shinde said, “Mock drills will be conducted to check the fire preparedness of such areas.”
