manda-mhatra1Last week MLC Manda Mhatre’s year long efforts of redevelopment of police homes in Navi Mumbai met positive results. To ensure that the concerns of the police men and their families living in dilapidated police homes in Navi Mumbai reaches the ears of the state, MLC Manda Mhatre had been raising the issue in the state council session for two years. Her calling attention motion and follow up of the issue finally paid off last week when State Home Ministry gave in principle approval for the redevelopment of police homes in Navi Mumbai. The final clearance to MLC Manda Mhatre’s demand was taken in a joint meeting of MLC Manda Mhatre with State Home Minister Jayant Patil and his department officials. Last week addressing the media outside Vidhan Bhavan after the meeting, MLC Manda Mhatre had given an insight on the decision. And to pay their gratitude to MLC Mands Mhatre for taking the effort of getting the in principle approval, the Navi Mumbai police invited MLC Manda Mhatre at the police staff quarters in CBD Belapur to felicitate her. Navi Mumbai Police DCP HQ N D Chauhan and CBD Police Station’s SPI Ramesh Mohite were present during the event. Living in state government given homes for the last 3 decades, the conditions of the police homes have been pathetic. The decision of redeveloping these homes and giving them bigger homes has brought relief to police personnel families across Navi Mumbai. The police personnel brought several other issues they face to the attention of the MLC. MLC Manda Mhatre added that she would continue to strive for bettering the living conditions for the Navi Mumbai police. With Anil More, Nilofar Shaikh for NMTV News.
