MLC MANDA MHATRE’S EFFORTS PAY OFF – NMMC PLANS POLLUTION CONTROL MACHINE AT TURBHE CREMATORIUM

apmc-2Finally the efforts of MLC Manda Mhatre have paid off and very soon the merchants and vendors of APMC’s fruit market will be relieved of pollution emancipating from the nearby Turbhe crematorium. In a significant decision NMMC has decided to erect a 100 foot high pollution control machine to control the problem. The fruit sellers of APMC market had complained many a times about the foul smell and air pollution post rites coming out from the nearby Turbhe crematorium. They had complained that the pollution was affecting the fruits and damaging them. They had even approached NMMC with their problem but receiving no effective response, fruit sellers and vendors took their plea to MLC Manda Mhatre. For the same MLC Manda Mhatre had even visited the crematorium for inspection. She approached NMMC to get the matter resolved and stated that if there were no fund allotted for the crematorium, she would fund the Rs 50 lakhs from her MLC Fund. But better late than never as NMMC Commissioner Vijay Nahata in a significant move have decided to erect a 100-foot high pollution control machine which will divert the smoke. The cost for the project is estimated at 57 lakhs 86 thousand 574 rupees. The project will be presented in the upcoming General Body Meet after which the fund will be sanctioned.
