Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray has taken up the water issue aggressively. Thackeray met MCGM Commissioner Swadheen Kshatriya at the MCGM headquarters and questioned him about why laws on rainwater harvesting were not being implemented. MNS Chief Raj Thackarey met MCGM Commissioner Swadheen Kshtriya over the water woes in the city. The meeting started with Additional Municipal Commissioner Anil Diggikar explaining to Thackeray the steps taken by the BMC to conserve water. Raj Thackeray questioned the municipal commissioner why laws on rainwater harvesting were not being implemented. Thackeray said the time before monsoon is when MCGM should implement rainwater harvesting projects so that the city is prepared to conserve water. He also asked the BMC to keep a check on the water mafia. Thackeray also alleged that there was a conspiracy behind pipeline bursts in Mumbai. He refused to reveal who he suspected was behind this. MCGM Commissioner Swadheen Kshatriya spoke on having 6 plots for rainwater harvesting in the city. He further added that tenders would be called in for the same.
