Who would have thought that a mobile handset would bring mental stress? Unfortunately it’s true. According to surveys, the modern world is now afflicted with a disease called nomophobia. The people of the modern world are already reeling under various health problems and to all to this even mobile handsets can cause mental stress. Experts on this say that there are many mobile users who face the problem of no mobile phobia popularly known as nomophobia which means the fear of being out of mobile phone contact. According to a study, people suffering under this stress face anxiety when their cells run out of battery or credit, losing one’s handset and even by not having network coverage. The survey revealed that men suffer more than women, with 48% of females and 58% of males admitting to feelings of anxiety. Many respondents said they never switched off their mobile phones. If we go by the survey, then ironically, made for the convenience of man, mobiles have somewhat become the enemy now. People of all age groups are seen with a mobile today. It has become the fastest mode of communication and not just in people’s professional life but personal life too. While there is no cure for this stress, each one of us need to be aware of the ill-effects of mobiles and keep safe from this phobia.
