Around 85 onion and potato vendors of the largest market of Asia, APMC held a protest in front of the market’s Secretary’s office. These protestors do not have shops in the market and they accuse the market authorities of discriminating them while restructuring plan of the area. A huge protest was held by the onion and potato traders of APMC market. These merchants have received their licenses about eight years back and have been paying rent of for their temporary galas to the authorities. The merchants allege that around Rs 25 to 30000 have been collected from them in the form of cess on a monthly basis and still they have not been provided with any permanent place. On a personal complaint, the Thane district officer has ordered the APMC authorities to remove these temporary galas by the 17 of March.
