In a shocking incident, the sudden braking of a state transport bus on the Vashi Bridge led to the death of a 33-year-old man from Mazgaon, whose Maruti was crushed in the resulting pile-up of vehicles. In an unexpected fall of events, the sudden braking by a ST bus led to the death of a 33 year old who’s Maruti car was crushed between the ST bus and the MSRTC bus that was behind his car. Vipul Ramesh Kothari, the victim died on the spot. Sometime during the morning hour the ST Shivneri-King Long luxury bus braked sharply and without warning, caused the Maruti behind to ram into it. Tailing the Maruti was another ST bus from Bijapur, which slammed into the car, and was in turn hit by two cars, a Maruti Alto and a Toyota Qualis. The impact was so fierce that the police and fire brigade took over two hours to extricate his body from the wreckage. While the driver of the second ST bus has been arrested by the police the first ST bus driver is being questioned as to why why he had to apply the brakes so suddenly.
