With the aim to supply adequate power supply to its consumers, a new sub station has been started in Panvel by MSEDC. The estimated cost for this plan has been proposed to be Rs 10 crore. The proposal for building a new sub station has been put forward by the Panvel MSEDC for which an estimated cost of Rupees 10 Crore is expected. The proposed site is besides the Panvel railway station on a CIDCO plot. At present there are in all 51000 MSEDC consumers in this region which includes 328 industrial, 34 agricultural and 50 thousand 500 domestic users. These areas are supplied with power by two sources of 50MV and 10MV each. However, now the transformers have become obsolete due to which Panvel city is suffering from power cuts. Therefore, with a view to provide relief to the city, a proposal of setting up of another transformer of 50 MVA power by establishing a new sub station has been put forward.
