Famous for its contribution to Indian dance, sculpture and art, the 18-year-old Elephanta Festival will be held on February 15 and 16 this year. The Elephanta festival is being organized by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation in association with Tata Consultancy Services. The Festival will feature artistes like Tabla exponent Ustad Zakir Hussain, renowned Mohiniattam danseuse Dr Neena Prasad, Kuchipudi dancers Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant and Shallu Jindal and renowned Hindustani classical music singer Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar. Present during the press conference were the Joint Secretary of MTDC Jayant Gaikwad, Joint Managing Director of MTDC Abhay Jawalkar, Managing Director of MTDC Bhushan Gajral and Secretary of Tata Consultancy Service Anita Rajan. We spoke with Bhushan Gajral, Managing Director of MTDC about the festival. Tickets for the festival cost Rs 300 which includes to and fro journey between Gateway of India to Elephanta Island.
