Mumbai airport and BMC to swap land for development work

According to a government release, the Mumbai airport can now carry out its developmental work at about 3,000 sq m land in Sahar. The approval was given by the Union cabinet which allowed the Airports Authority of India and BMC to swap the land which is said to benefit both parties.

The cabinet approved the proposal under which the Airports Authority of India land demised to Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd (MIAL), measuring 2960.90 sqm will be swapped with equivalent land of BMC for relocation of a cemetery.

The release stated, “Swapping of the land with BMC will enable MIAL to complete development work of Mumbai airport. Further, shifting of the cemetery to a new location will result in its operationalization. As the AAI land and the private land… are of the same size and adjacent to each other… there is no financial implication on the government.”
