There is cheer amongst medical students especially of the suburban areas as BMC has decided to start a new medical college at Cooper hospital at Vile Parle. The aspiring medical students of the suburban areas would now breathe a sign of relief as BMC has decided to start a new medical college in Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle. Until now the students had to travel to KEM hospital, Sion hospital or Nair hospital for their studies. We spoke to some of the students and teachers of residing near Copper Hospital about this plan of BMC. As per the guidelines set by the Indian Medical Council, Cooper Hospital has the requisite space with 520 beds. However, although every medical college requires atleast 25 acres space, BMC has decided to make Cooper hospital spread over 14 acres into a medical college. This will also be linked with Shatabdi hospital at Kandivili and Bhagwati hospital at Boriviali. At present, tenders for the project is being received by BMC and the work is expected to start within 3 months. With cameraperson Roshan Hate, Shailendra Upadhyay for NMTV News.
