Real estate agents providing the complete bouquet of services ranging from finding a flat to arranging a bank loan are usually a buyer’s dream. Sunil Kumar, a US-based NRI, thought he was living the dream with a trio of real estate agents in Navi Mumbai until he realised that the documents and even the keys handed over to him for a flat in Vashi were fake. Sunil Kumar has now filed a case at the Vashi police station against the trio. The Vashi police station has registered a case against the three accused under the IPC at 467,468,420/34. The police have arrested Pankaj Sharma and Pravin Ahire, while Shwet Kumar Dora is absconding. The Vashi police station has also sent a team to Bangalore and Rajasthan to arrest the absconding Shwet Kumar Dora. Investigations revealed that the group not only forged ownership documents but also did franking by itself and even forged pan cards, ration cards, electricity bills and receipts to obtain bank loans. The two arrested were presented in court and have been kept under judicial custody for seven days. It’s unfortunate that such dubious small time real estate agents cheat NRIs, which may stop the flow of NRI funds flowing into the country.
