A grand ceremony marked the inaugural ceremony of the Road Safety Week of the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police. The inauguration was done at the hands of CP Ahmad Javed in the presence of DCP Vijay Patil, DCP D T Shinde, Ankush Shinde and ACP Purshottam Karad. The week will create awareness on the laws and rules of the traffic police among motorists. Awareness will also be created among children by way of booklets and camps. One such booklet with guidelines was released at the hands of the CP Ahmad Javed. 35 traffic wardens were also welcomed in the Navi Mumbai traffic police on the occasion. The CP also distributed safety kit among his officers. The Gas Safety Kit has also been made and was distributed keeping in mind the increasing cases of gas leakages in the city. On the other hand, even the Navi Mumbai RTO followed its tradition and launched its Road Safety week. The week is an important one where the RTO tries to spread awareness amongst the people on safe and secure driving through various rallies, events and competitions. At a time when 75000 accidents are recorded in the state, 12000 lose their lives and 25000 are critically injured, Road Safety Weeks gains significance. Like every year, even this year the road safety week started on a successful note and will go on until January 31. The week was officially inaugurated at the hands of Thane’s Regional Transport Officer N K Patil. Navi Mumbai’s Dy. Regional Transport Officer Sanjay Raut was also present for the event.
