NAVI MUMBAI POLICE GEARS UP FOR ELECTIONS

elec-securityWith the upcoming assembly elections, the city police is preparing itself to upgrade the security measures. The elections will be held under the strict bandobast of 1500 policemen. The responsibility of implementing security measures in some of the constituencies of Airoli, Belapur and Uran for the state assembly elections going to be held on 13th of October, has been given to Zone 1. After receiving guidelines from the Election Commission about the security measures, Navi Mumbai police has increased its vigilance and has bettered its equipments in order to ensure a check on the law and order situation. DCP Zone 1 Ashok Dudhe informed that police force will be deployed at places like revenue center, police jurisdiction and patrolling and polling booths. 1500 policemen along with SRP and CRPF personnel will be posted during elections. The police department is also working on various preventive measures. Police has also short-listed names of few people who would create disturbance and disorder during elections and is planning to take strict action against them by charging them with different acts like MCOCA and MPDE. DCP Ashok Dudhe informed that they are running a special campaign in Airoli and Belapur constituencies. They have listed 27 areas in Airoli as “sensitive’ and 6 in Uran while Belapur constituency has none. He also informed about the combing operation carried out by the police. Along with upgrading and preparing for strong bandobast, police is giving suggestions to the political parties to not to violate rules of the code of conduct and not to pressurize the administrative department in any manner.
