With the aim to strengthen the relation between the citizens and the police, a senior citizen melawa was held by the Navi Mumbai Police Zone 1 under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Gulabrao Pol. During the meet, the senior citizens expressed their concerns after which they were given the assurance of providing with a cell and a helpline number. One of the priorities of Navi Mumbai police Commissioner Gulabrao Pol was strengthening the relation between citizens and police. With the aim to provide a safe and secure environment to the residents of Navi Mumbai, the police force is taking many initiatives, one of which was seen at Vashi where a senior citizen melawa was held to know the grievances of the residents. Present during the meet was Zone 1 DCP Ashok Dudhe and ACP Purshottam Karad. Many senior citizens participated in the event. The event began with an interactive sher-e-shairee session between the police and the residents. While the senior citizens expressed their concerns, which included the illegal activities in garden, chain snatching and others. It was more a discussion and informative session for them. DCP Ashok Dudhe assured the citizens of reducing the crime in the city and said that a special cell for senior citizens would be provided so that they do not face the hassles of going to the local police station. Along with the independent cell, a helpline number ould also be started for them. He further spoke on the safety measures that senior citizens should follow.
