Navi Mumbai police have been on their toes for last many days to maintain law and order in the satellite city in the wake of assembly elections. Elections got over on Tuesday, but the busy schedule of the policemen remain the same. It’s festive time and while everybody is busy lighting diyas and planning their vacation for Diwali, policemen are back to their normal routine after a hectic 24-hour bandobast for elections. For the Police force Diwali leaves will be granted only between October 16 and October 20 since everybody will have to be back for the bandobast on October 22 when the election result will be out. During Diwali, the patrolling and nakabandi would increase since the festival is being celebrate just prior to the declaration of the election results. Patrolling by the police will be increased in the market areas and places where there are chances of more number of people gathering. Speaking to the media, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Gulabrao Pol informed that special drives have been taken for the festival. He said that during this time, traffic will be the special focus for the police.
