Speaking during a press conference, Navi Mumbai Sena Chief Vijay Chougule has alleged that the Navi Mumbai Police was working under the pressure of the ruling NCP and hence initiated legal proceedings under MCOCA. He alleged that the police department had arrested five youngsters under this act. Protesting this, under the guidance of Shiv Sena’s Opposition Leader Ramdas Kadam, an agitation would be taken on 16th of August. Speaking to the media, Navi Mumbai Sena Chief Vijay Chougule stated that while Shiv Sena does not support any criminals, it cannot sit quite when injustice was being done to the innocent. He alleged that the Navi Mumbai Police was working under the pressure of the NCP. He informed that during a religious ceremony at Digha, the Angre and Thakur gang saw heated exchange because of which Shiv Sena’s five youth was targeted. The arrested include Block President Sameer Patil, Swapnil Patil, Pradeep Sharma, Sameer Kondhalkar and Yogesh Dahake who were charged under MCOCA. Amongst the arrested only Sameer Patil has a case registered against him during the Lok Sabha elections while the rest do not have any history of crime. Vijay Chougule also alleged that the Rabale Police had prepared a file, which included charges under the MCOCA against Digha NCP representative scrap mafia and four corporators, which was being kept under covers. The estranged parents of the arrested also spoke to the media. Vijay Chougule also demanded that the co-accused in the Bhise scam, NCP corporator M K Madhvi be charged under the MCOCA. The party also declared that under the leadership of Opposition Leader Ramdas Kadam, they would take out a protest on 16th August against the Navi Mumbai police, which was allegedly working under the pressure of the NCP party.
