Navi Mumbai perhaps is the only city in the state where SSC boards students get to appear for mock board examinations conducted exactly on the lines of the boards conducted by the state. The initiative is becoming so popular with every passing year that 15000 students wrote the mock examinations this year. And the toppers were in for a surprise as MLA Sandeep Naik himself who went to the homes of the toppers to felicitate them. Smiles, excitement and jubilation electrified the homes of the toppers of the Navi Mumbai Shikshan Sankul’s Mock Examinations. The mock examination is a one-of-its-kind initiatives may be in the entire state where in students who will appear for SSC board get the chance to appear for an exact board-like mock examination held by MLA Sandeep Naik headed NGO Navi Mumbai Shikshan Sankul. What started only for marathi schools involved even private schools last year and the initiative has become so popular among students across the city that 15, 000 appeared for these mock examinations last year. The main aim of the Navi Mumbai Shikshan Sankul however is to provide a platform to students hailing from villages, slums and weaker sections, as they do not get the chance to write practice examinations. Held in December, the results of the mock examinations were declared this week and what came as a surprise for the toppers of the examination and their parents was that MLA Sandeep Naik dropped at the residences of each of the toppers to felicitate them. From the Marathi medium, Sonal Kundre of MGM High School scored 92.31, Swapnali Lokhande scored 91.35 and Shweta Mestry scored 90.77. From the English Medium Nitin Godse scored 94.81, Gauri Hande scored 92.12 and Sneha Kutal scored 91.92. MLA Sandeep Naik gave the toppers cash prize and a laptop each that will go a long way to motivate these students. Students and parents shared their delight on the MLA coming to their homes. They appreciated the efforts of the youth MLA and thanked him for the same. Delighted parents also spoke with us. The Navi Mumbai Shikshan Sankul’s effort of carrying out such a massive exercise is definitely win accolades of parents and students. MLA Sandeep Naik said that these exams mentally prepare the students. When personal efforts of students meet social contributions of NGOs like the Navi Mumbai Shikshan Sankul, it goes a long way to build a tradition of excellence in education.
