Addressing repeated complaints about poor frequency of buses, NMMT has decided to increase the frequency of buses on some routes. The committee has sanctioned 300 buses to run on Build, Operate and Own (BOO) basis. In a survey conducted by NMMT, it was found that the transport body was short of 357 buses. Also in some areas the frequency of NMMT buses was about 40 minutes to one hour. Hence, another 77 new additional routes have been approved by the transport committee. Though passed in the NMMT, the proposal would be tabled before the next General Body meet of the corporation, after which it will be officially approved and passed. Increase in the number of buses on the city routes would make life easier for most residents, especially in Kharghar node as Kharghar residents have been complaining about the poor services as majority of the residential areas are far from the railway station.
